Cinquain

Standard

In preparation of my poetry unit, I have been researching different types of poetry that students can try their hand at writing.  One type I found was a cinquain.

A cinquain is a 5 line poem broken into 1 of the following 2 syllable patterns: 1,2,3,4,1 or 2,4,6,8,2.

I decided to try my hand at it so here it is:

Nighttime

Moonlight streams in

Quietness surrounds me

Except in my mind…thoughts swirl

Lost Sleep
